1.0 SERVICE DESCRIPTION
The most basic functionality the ACADEMIA service provides academic institutional bodies is to publish/post their pupils/students academic and non-academic activities and records to the web; allowing parents/guardians/authorised parties to view the same and possibly contact school administrators using the medium (ACADEMIA).
Other functionality includes:
- Parents and school administrators are able to interact with each other via webforms
- Academia circular mail allows school authority to send announcements or notices by emails to parents en masse
- Administrative tools for school use.
Academia utilises a standard user login system to control and secure individual parent/guardian or school staff accounts.
2.0 SERVICE TERMS
2.1 Personal information belonging to parents/guardians of students enrolled in schools subscribed to the Academia service as well as those belonging to school staff (class teachers or coordinators) are automatically added to the Academia database, this obliges them to receive mails sent via Academia to their email boxes whether by school authority or from other users of Academia (parents to class teachers or class teachers to parents) regardless of whether or not they chose to activate their login accounts.
2.2 Other obligations imposed on users of this service include to congirm that personal data required during registration and login account activation(e.g. fullname) is accurate and current.
2.3 Upon completing this service’s registration process, a login account would be created on your behalf with the password you specified. Users are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of the password and are fully responsible for all activities that occur under the account. All users therfore must endeavour to log out at the end of each session and agree to notify the Academiaservice provider of any un-authorised use of their password and accounts or any other security breach.
2.4 The Academia service provider or the school authority reserves the right to discontinue a users access to the service if observed that there has been a breach of any areas of the service terms.
2.5 Usage of the Academia mail forms must be restricted to the purpose of the academia service, any other usage either as a spam tool or to infringe on the privacy or other users shall be regarded as a violation.
3.0 PRIVACY POLICY
3.1 All personal information required form subscribers to this service shall be restricted witin the context of its specific application and will not be used for other purposes commercial or otherwise.
3.2 Users must be aware that through the use of this service they consent to the collection and use (within the provisions of this service terms and privacy policy) of their registration data and other required data, including its transfer for storage and processing by the Academia provider.
4.0 COPYRIGHT POLICY
It is prohibited and illegal to reproduce, copy or resell any portion of this software or service including its code and design as they are protected by copyright and intellectual property laws.
