A portal in modern Information and Communication Technology is usually a web/online based solution usually with the following key objects below (although ACADEMIA like other portals can also be offline):
- ACADEMIA as a Portal is a Data Centre that gives the institution the option of determining how much data they want the parents to be able to view and how much they want to keep private. In the case of ACADEMIA, all of the following MAY be displayed on the portal:
- School/institutions details: Address, telephone, emails, notice board, etc.
- Students’ data: Name, identification number/pin, etc.
- Students’ record: Subjects/courses, grades and scores, punctuality, extra-curricular activities, etc.
- Teachers’ records and information.
- Teachers assigned to classes/subjects/courses, etc.
PARENTS/GUARDIAN
· Parents or guardians can view records of their individual ward’s academic performance, assessment, teacher’s remarks etc. when logged-on to the portal site.
They can also send emails to the Portal Admin right from the site. Report sheets now carry passport photo of child.
PORTAL ADMINISTRATION
- Circular email correspondence by school authority.
- Administrator’s control panel where all the customisable features of the portal site can be viewed and edited. Some of the customisable features include:
